Yirri Cold Plunge Care: Simple Maintenance for Optimal Performance

By: Alex Tyson

To keep your Yirri Cold Plunge performing at its best and to maintain your warranty, it’s essential to follow a few key maintenance steps. Proper care will help you enjoy the full benefits of your cold plunge for years to come.

Water Quality

Since the Yirri holds a relatively small amount of water, it’s important to monitor water quality closely. While the built-in filtration and sanitisation system does a lot of the work, water quality can still degrade quickly due to:

  • Humidity and Temperature: High humidity and warm environments can reduce water lifespan.
  • Entering Sweaty or Dirty: Always rinse off before using the plunge to avoid contaminating the water.
  • Dirty Feet: Be sure your feet are clean before stepping in.

Adding chlorine to the water can help extend its life.

Filter and Strainer

Water should generally be changed every 10-15 uses, with the filter being replaced every second water change. However, if the filter looks visibly dirty, it’s time for a replacement.

If your Yirri has a strainer basket, it should be cleaned each time the water is changed. Remove any visible contaminants from the basket.

Signs your Yirri needs maintenance:

  • If the unit is louder than usual, the filter or strainer basket likely needs cleaning.
  • Reduced water flow also indicates the filter or strainer may need attention.

Timber Maintenance

The exterior timber of the Yirri requires regular care to keep it in top condition. Apply oil periodically, depending on its location and exposure to the elements. For outdoor units exposed to the weather, we recommend oiling the timber every six months.

Dusty Environment

If your Yirri is located in a dusty environment or isn’t cooling efficiently, it may need an internal clean. Dust can accumulate on the radiator inside the chiller, affecting its performance. Cleaning the unit will help it function optimally.

Warranty Coverage

Your Yirri’s warranty covers defects in parts and workmanship. However, damage caused by neglecting the recommended maintenance isn’t covered, so it’s important to follow these guidelines.

By following these simple steps, you’ll enjoy many trouble-free years with your Yirri Cold Plunge.

Troubleshooting

FL Error
This error often indicates a blockage or that the filter needs replacing. We recommend changing the paper filter every 10-15 uses. Be sure to:

  • Check the filter is sealed properly where it connects to the chiller.
  • Ensure the strainer basket, if installed, is sealed correctly.

Chiller Not Re-Activating After Filter and/or Water Swap
Air trapped in the system after a filter change may cause the chiller not to re-activate. Follow these steps to fix it:

  1. Prime the Chiller: This forces air out of the system. Watch this video for instructions starting at 3:20.
  2. Manual Restart: Hold the 2nd and 3rd buttons from the left on the chiller (the “S” and 4-square buttons) for 15 seconds to help engage the chiller.
