WHERE CAN MY SAUNA BE PLACED?

  • The Nyssa Sauna is for indoor installation. Outdoor installation may be possible if it is completely protected from the weather.
  • It must be installed on a hard, flat and level surface.
  • The weight of the sauna with users inside can be over 301kg. The surface the sauna is installed on must be able to support this.
  • If the Nyssa is installed outside, the sauna must be entirely protected from the weather. In colder climates, the heat-up time will be affected.
  • The Nyssa IV needs 3820 watts and requires 3 x 10 amp outlets and  2 x circuits. 
  • There needs to be adequate space around the sauna for assembly. Depending on the surface, it may be possible to push the assembled sauna into a tighter space or up against a wall.
  • There must be a clearance of 30cm above the sauna.

So whether you are heading home at the end of a busy day or nearing the end of your workout, just reach for phone and activate your sauna so it's hot and ready for you.

The Smart sauna

With the FS-1 Control System you can control your sauna on the inbuilt 10.1-inch touch screen or on your phone.

Once you've set the temperature, the FS-1 will calculate the the time needed to get to temperature and will send a push notification to let you know it's ready.

When you're sauna has reached the target temperature, the control system will automatically adjust the heaters to keep you at a constant temperature.

Colour Light Therapy

Colour Therapy, also known as Chromotherapy, is a complementary health treatment that works on both a psychological and physiological level. By flooding your sauna with different colours of the spectrum you are using the vibrational frequencies of light to balance, regulate and enhance different systems of the body. Studies have shown that exposure to different colours can improve mood and cognitive ability, release tension, stimulate circulation and aid recovery and healing. HIgh Heat Density

Heat density measures how many watts are needed to heat a cubic meter of space. CF-3 Carbon Fibre Far Infra Red heaters have a high heat density rating meaning you'll feel hotter faster compared to other infrared saunas you may have tried.

Thicker, Heavier Quieter Panelling

The Nyssa features 9mm internal and external panelling for extra sound and heat insulation. The larger panels also give the sauna interior a robust, solid feeling reminiscent of old-school traditional saunas.
The timber is 41-day kiln-dried Canadian Hemlock renowned for its strength, durability and resistance to shrinkage, splitting and mould.

Laminated Glass Panels

The glass door and window on the Nyssa are 8mm-thick laminated glass for superior sound and heat insulation. Reducing heat loss is essential for the efficient performance of the sauna. While blocking out external noise helps create the sense of sanctuary.

Our skin is the body's largest organ, accounting for about 16% of our overall body mass. Skin protects us from infection, pollutants and UV rays, allows us to feel pain and pleasure and helps regulate our temperature.
Our skin also has an important role in eliminating harmful metabolites from our bodies. When we perspire, sweat glands help to expel metabolic waste such as urea and ammonia and stops these compounds from building up to harmful levels in our bodies.

about that word 'detox'

The sauna industry loves the word detox. Some companies claim their saunas can eliminate toxins and heavy metals through the skin. Science generally disagrees. Although some studies have found occurrences of arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury in sweat, we think most detox claims are a bit of an overreach.

Our bodies are actually very efficient at detoxification via the kidneys, liver and immune system. What we can be confident about is that regular use of sauna increases blood circulation and vasodilation which helps these vital organs and systems do their job.

Deliberate heat exposure with regular sauna sessions can increase metabolism. This is the rate at which our bodies burns stored energy to keep us alive and allow us to move and function. One Finish study showed the metabolic rate increasing 25-33% during the sauna session and remaining elevated for several hours afterwards.

One of the most common questions we get asked is, why do I feel so good after sauna?
Both clinical and anecdotal evidence shows that sauna helps us to relax, lifts our mood and our sense of well-being. Our bodies respond to the penetrative heat of infrared sauna by increasing production of several hormones like beta- endorphins which are responsible for the pleasurable and soothing effects of a sauna, and Norepinephrine (noradrenaline) which is associated with improved mood, focus and attention. Plus, regular sauna can help regulate the stress hormone cortisol.

Sauna bathing is associated with reduced risk of developing age-related neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. In the Kuopio Ischemic Heart Disease (KIHD) Risk Factor Study, which has been following 2,315 middle-aged Finnish men for more than 20 years, those who used the sauna 4–7 times per week had a 66% lower risk of developing dementia and a 65% lower risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease, compared to men who reported using the sauna only once weekly.

In a randomised controlled trial of depressed individuals, those who received 4 weeks of sauna sessions experienced reduced symptoms of depression and participants in another randomised controlled trial who received a single session of heat therapy experienced an acute antidepressant effect that was apparent within 1 week of treatment and persisted for 6 weeks after treatment.

Regular sauna improves headache disorders. In one study, 37 people with chronic tension-type headache were randomised to undergo regular sauna sessions or advice and education for a period of 8 weeks, and sauna therapy was found to substantially improve headache intensity.

The Kuopio Ischemic Heart Disease (KIHD) Study, which has been following 2,315 middle-aged Finnish men for more than 20 years, found that those men who frequented saunas the most (four to seven times per week) had a significantly lower risk of sudden cardiac death, fatal coronary heart disease, and fatal cardiovascular disease compared to those who visited saunas less frequently. The study found that increased sauna use was also associated with a 40% reduction in all-cause mortality.

Infrared sauna can benefit cardiovascular health in a similar way to exercise. Our heart rate has been shown to increase up to 100 beats per minute during a moderate-temperature sauna sessions and up to 150 beats per minute during hotter sessions. This is similar to the increases observed during moderate and intensive physical exercise.

A study in 1628 men and women followed for 15 years, found that having regular sauna (4-7 sessions/wk) compared with 1 sauna session/wk was associated with an approximately 62% reduced risk of incident stroke.
